Every once and a while an artist comes along who writes and performs with pure passion. In the past these artist for me have included Garth Brooks and Elton John. Similarly they were both top selling artist in their genre. I was never huge hip-hop fan. Growing up in the conservative mid-west and on a farm no less rap music was not tolerated. It was not until i was a freshman in college (1999) that I heard a rap song by an artist and in his voice I heard a passionate sound. The sound was coming from my roomates room. The album was Infinite and the song was titled the same. The artist? it was Eminem.
I have a knack for finding artist with passion and conviction and as I expanded my horizons I was moved deeply by the pain, the anger, and the passion in Eminems Lyrics. It is no surprise to me that he as obtained the heights that he has in the hip-hop and mainstream music world. As a loyal fan of his music I opted not to download his new cd, but went and bought it.
Encore is nothing less than any Eminem fan would expect. Some songs make u laugh, some make u think, and others might bring you to tears. I highly recommend this album to anyone even if your not a fan of hip-hop you might find something you like and who knows maybe like me you'll stop being narrow minded and open yourself to new experiances.
Stumbling around the post-election net looking in all the political cracks and dark alleys I found an intresting site. The site claims that the U.S. is illegaly occupying the Islands that make up the only state that is entirely surrounded by water. The site contains information to support their claim and even displays a quote from the current governor given in his 1998 state of the state address.
"The recovery of Hawaiian self-determination is not only an issue for Hawaii, but for America. ... let all of us, Hawaiian and non-Hawaiian, work toward a common goal. Let us resolve ... to advance a plan for Hawaiian sovereignty" - Democratic Governor Ben Cayetano
